Virginia House

About

Virginia House offers one of the region's most enchanting wedding settings. This romantic English Tudor manor was meticulously relocated from England and reconstructed in Richmond in 1925, bringing authentic 16th-century architectural elements across the Atlantic. Nearly eight acres of grounds and gardens designed by renowned landscape architect Charles Freeman Gillette provide multiple picturesque ceremony sites and backdrops.

The manor's elegant interior features preserved original woodwork, grand fireplaces, ornate carved details, and authentic antique furnishings that create an intimate, sophisticated atmosphere. Professional uplighting accentuates the rich architectural details, exposed beams, and intimate room proportions, casting warm color washes that enhance the historic ambiance. The venue's authentic character provides unique opportunities for lighting design that respects the period architecture while adding modern elegance.

Custom gobos can project monograms or romantic patterns onto the hardwood floors and stone walls, adding personalized touches throughout the spaces. Pin spotting ensures floral arrangements, the mantelpieces, and other focal points receive dedicated illumination that highlights the venue's historic beauty. Wireless LED lights and lamps offer flexible lighting solutions for the terraces and garden areas without disrupting the carefully preserved grounds.

The expansive outdoor spaces provide stunning ceremony options from the formal gardens to the terraced lawns with sweeping river views. As evening falls, landscape lighting and bistro lights transform the gardens and outdoor reception areas, creating magical transitions from ceremony to celebration. The reflection pool, stone walls, and centuries-old architectural details become even more dramatic under thoughtful illumination.
